Occupational Health issues are regulated by a number of different government agencies. To assist you in ensuring your workplace policies and practices are in compliance with all necessary standards, we have provided the following links to major regulatory agencies' web sites.

Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA)
- Under the Department of Labor, OSHA has legislative authority for working conditions for all employees not covered by another federal agency. Alaska has a State OSHA which must meet or exceed the standards of the federal government. OSHA does not cover federal, state, or local municipal employees.

- Regulates truck drivers in interstate commerce.

Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA)
- Health and Safety for the mining industry. It is under the Deparment of Labor.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
- Research agency created by the Occupational Safety Health Act under the Department of Health and Human Services. Now part of the Center for Disease Control. Also with responsibilities legislated by the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act, the Public Health Service Act, the Toxic Substance Control Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Superfund legislation. Offers or approves of many training programs.
